Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In December 2015, we welcomed our second son Sennen into our lives; a happy, content little soul who gave me immense joy. We enjoyed such an amazing year together. Just days after helping Sennen celebrate his first birthday, he died suddenly and unexpectedly. His death devastated us.

The Lullaby Trust offered compassionate bereavement support to our family as we tried to find a way to rebuild our lives following this trauma.  The Lullaby Trust undertake extensive research into the cause and prevention of sudden infant deaths, and educate health professionals and the general public in how to reduce the risk. They have significantly reduced the rate of sudden infant deaths in the UK which is now at an all-time low.

I hope to complete this half marathon as a way of honouring Sennen's life while raising money for an incredibly important organisation. I started running recently as a way of trying to cope with some of the powerful effects of my grief and to try and find a way of improving my mental health so I can try and be strong for my other two sons. The half marathon will be my longest run yet.

Any contribution you can afford will be so helpful. Thank you.

Today is the day I had hoped to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon in memory of our happy boy Sennen. Although it has been postponed, I wanted to let all my sponsors know that I plan to do my own solo half marathon on Wednesday 1st April in Exeter. I will post evidence here and let you know how I get on! I would have done it today but am recovering from pulled muscles following enthusiastic You Tube Joe Wicks sessions with my boys as part of Ben's home education!

The London Landmarks Half Marathon has sadly been postponed until further notice due to the Corona virus outbreak. The LLHM are liaising with local authorities to plan a replacement date but clearly this could take some time. I plan to run a half marathon distance on 29th March on my own in Devon, in memory of Sennen and in recognition of the very generous sponsorship. Just Giving tell me the sponsor money has already been paid to the Lullaby Trust to fund their vital work. Thank you so much for your kindness. I will post pictures soon!

It's now just one month until I attempt my first half marathon! I have been trying hard to make time for training and so far have managed to run 11 miles. It was painful however and I felt like my hips were on fire for the last 5 or so miles! I hope to not be in too much pain on the day. I have been told the atmosphere and crowds help with motivation! I am determined to complete it so at least something good will have come out of the most tragic event of my life. Thank you so much for everyone who has sponsored me. You are incredibly kind.

I would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who has donated so far. I was amazed to see you helped me reach my initial target within 24 hours of this page going live! It is all the more special because it was Sennen's birthday yesterday and your generosity lifted my spirits. From my heart I thank you. I'd better crack on with some training now!!
